Today I discovered t, a command line utility for managing Twitter. I’ve always been faster with the command line than with graphical interfaces, and t allows you to retrieve lists and statistics from my Twitter account with just a few keystrokes. It also allows you to add, block, or mute other accounts. Everything you need to do can then be done programmatically.
t also has a sensible approach to handling Twitter relationships. “Leaders” are accounts you follow but who don’t follow you back, “groupies” are accounts that follow you but whom you don’t follow back, and “friends” are accounts that follow each other.
So far I’ve trimmed my followers list from 870 accounts to just over 770. I excised spam accounts and accounts from people I do not know in real life.
