078: I Shall Return

img_20160318_131506-01.jpegBack at work today, the whole day dedicated to Ateneo. Practically my entire time was taken up with systems application development (SAD) panels. I had four consecutive slots, starting at 9:45 in the morning and ending at 3:45 in the afternoon, with an hour-and-a-half break in between. There was one turkey, and sadly that had to have happened in the first slot, when I was panel chair.

Overall, though, I was impressed by the quality of work turned in by the third years. One group used Laravel and turned in a pretty slick application. I shall have to look into that when I have time. Heh.

Our experiments with SDAPS for running a big survey are bearing fruit. We just finished doing the in-campus paper survey for BlueVote 2016. We used SDAPS to process 355 questionnaires, each with 15 pages. SDAPS tore through that in fifteen minutes. What took longer was the actual scanning and the editing and review of the scans. Good thing my colleague J– P– was on the job; she was quite assiduous about the process, working at it long after I would have flipped the tables in frustration.

Next step: 1,500 respondents. Oh, crap.

We had the first part of the annual Cimafranca family reunion tonight. It was good to connect with cousins and uncles. There was one funny story that ended with “I shall return” but I will have to leave the details for another time.
